Obituary of Thomas A. Britt
Thomas Aquinas Britt, of South Fayette Township, returned to Our Lord on January 11, 2025. Thomas was born in Manhattan, NY, was raised in the Bronx, NY and North Babylon, NY, and started married life in Hauppauge, NY. He was a former resident of Collier Township, PA, Ross Township, PA, and Sharon, PA. Thomas was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Joanne Murphy Britt; his father and mother, James Valentine and Helen Dorcas (Sullivan) Britt; two sons, Thomas Aquinas Britt, Jr., and James Joseph Britt; and a brother, James (wife, Sofia) Britt. Thomas is survived by his son Sean (wife, Sara) Britt, daughter Helen (husband, Sterling Simmons) Britt, and four cherished grandchildren, James Simmons, Jack Britt, Riley Simmons, and Liam Simmons; his brothers Lawrence (wife, Barbara) Britt, Philip (husband, Victor Valdizan) Britt, and John (Janice) Britt; and, many nieces and nephews. Thomas retired from the I.R.S. after a 36 year career. He was an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus and a Charter Member of Division 4 of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He was also a Life Member of Vietnam Veterans Post #862, Disabled Am. Veterans Chapter #55, the NRA, and a member of Catholic War Veterans Post #8. He was a former member of North Babylon (NY) Vol. Fire Dept., Hauppauge (NY) Vol. Fire. Dept., and Berkeley Hills (PA) Vol. Fire. Dept. Friends received from 3:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 16 at Warchol Funeral Home, 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, PA, 15017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, January 17, at Holy Child Church, of Corpus Christi Parish, Bridgeville, PA.
